Welcome to the 10K club!

We are excited to share that as of today, August 17, 2022, the China EVs & More podcast has hit a new major milestone of having received more than 10,000 downloads!

Since our first ever episode was published on May 20, 2021, we now have published 75 episodes, including 10 MAX episodes with 8 guests, totaling more than 4,500 minutes of content focused on the China EV, AV & mobility space. That’s equivalent to 75 hours or more than three days of content!

Our podcast has been downloaded by our listeners from nearly 1,160 cities in 79 countries and regions over the last 15 months or so, with North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania accounting for 42%, 26%, 25% and 5% of the total downloads so far.

Mobile downloads accounted for 78% of the total downloads so far, nearly two-thirds of the downloads went to an Apple iPhone device, and 41% of the downloads were downloaded by the Apple Podcasts app, followed by Spotify at 12%.

Our top five episodes in terms of downloads were all MAX episodes and each of these five episodes had more than 200 downloads. Our conversation with Omer Keilaf, Co-Founder & CEO of Innoviz, the LiDAR supplier that recently won a huge $4 billion contract with Volkswagen Group and CARIAD, was the most downloaded episode of all time with more than 300 downloads. The top five downloaded episodes all involved guests from startups as well as individuals engaged in LiDAR, batteries, autonomous vehicles and smart EVs, topics that are most often discussed on the pod.

Like what we said when the pod reached the 1,000 downloads milestone back on September 8, 2021, 10,000 downloads isn’t much, but it means a lot to both of us. We are proud of what we have accomplished in a short period of time: ever since starting the China EVs & More room on Clubhouse (we did not anticipate it to become a pod back then) almost exactly 1.5 years ago to the day (and later moving to Twitter Spaces), we have stuck to the schedule of hosting the show almost every single week since then (the lone exception is a break during the Chinese New Year 2022 holiday week in early February 2022).

The best thing? It’s amazing that after all these episodes and achievements, the two of us still have not met in person. Though that’s about to change as Tu has just arrived stateside, and we are going to be doing the next few episodes in the same time zone before we finally meet in person in less than a month in Detroit at the upcoming North American International Auto Show. We’ll be sure to record a few episodes not only in the same time zone, but in the same room!

Again, the purpose of China EVs & More podcast is simply to inform, educate, opine, and sometimes criticize all things related to the China EV, AV and mobility sectors for our Western audience utilizing our experience and knowledge gained over the past two decades either being on the ground covering the sectors or being on the manufacturing lines at some of the automakers we often mention on the pod. We knew that sooner or later the rest of the world especially North America and Europe is going to wake up to what’s happening in the China EV, AV and mobility sectors led by what we call the “China EV Inc” — think BYD, NIO, Xpeng, Li Auto, Wuling, etc. What these players as well as other EV, AV ana mobility startups have been doing in China and soon globally will have far reaching impact on what happens in the rest of the world. The China EVs & More podcast, we believe, is the best platform to understand this phenomenon and help “bust the myth,” so to say, as China EV, AV & mobility becomes global.

We would like to thank the following guests from our MAX episodes for their time, insights, views and perspectives:

Steve Levine, Editor, The Electric
Elliot Richards, East Asia Correspondent, Fully Charged
